Author Summaries for Artist Selection Preview
This is just a preview post (hence the disabled comments - PM me if you have questions) for artists who have signed up for Round Five of this Big Bang (and there's still time to sign up as an artist, here).
There are currently twenty-three summaries (a few more may be added before the selection post goes live), which is a record number for this Big Bang. You are all made of awesome!
Since there are a lot more stories than artists, we're going to do things differently this year. Artists may select up to THREE different stories to illustrate or otherwise create fanworks for. When making the selections on the 20th (this Sunday), if an artist wants to pick more than one story, the artist will have to note first, second and third choices. If two artists select the same story as first choice, the first artist to make the claim will get it. If one artist picks the story as first choice but there’s an earlier claim to the story as a second choice, the artist who selects as first choice will get that story. The same holds true for second vis-à-vis third choices.
1. Title: Here Be Dragons (working title)
Crossover Fandom: none
Characters and Pairings: Peter/Neal, Elizabeth, Diana, Sam, James Bennett, possibly June and Mozzie
Likely rating: nc-17
Summary: Peter Burke is a high-end jeweler. When he meets Neal Caffrey, a talented young jewelry designer, it seems like a match made in heaven. But when Neal discovers that Peter is an ancient dragon, it sets in motion a firestorm that neither one may survive.
2. Title: Let Your Honesty Shine
Crossover Fandom: The Normal Heart
Characters and Pairings: Peter Burke, Neal Caffrey, Elizabeth Burke, Ned Weeks, mention of James Bennett, Diana Berrigan, Felix Turner, Peter/Neal, Peter/Elizabeth, Peter/Elizabeth/Neal, Ned/Felix
Likely rating: R
Summary: It’s 2014 and Ned Weeks is old and ill and tired. He doesn’t want to have to deal with the crap that’s New York Pride Week, but he really has no choice. He stops at a coffee shop in the West Village for a cup of tea and some peace and quiet. He finds something heartbreaking and unexpected.
3. Title: A Question Of Trust (working)
Characters and Pairings: Peter & Neal
Likely rating: PG
Summary: AU where Neal never escaped. Peter had thought that jail would turn the young man around. But following his release, Neal returns to his old ways, always keeping one step ahead of the Feds. Now, a year later, Neal is planning a daring heist under the FBI's nose, and this time Peter intends to catch him.
4. Title: Hidden In the Past

Characters and Pairings: Neal/Ianto/Eliot, Peter/Elizabeth, Peter/Neal/Elizabeth, Eliot/Ianto, Mozzie, Diana, Clint Jones, Hardison/Parker, Nate/Sophia, Toshiko Sato, Owen Harper, Jack Harkness, Rhys/Gwen, June, OC
Likely rating: PG-13
Summary: There are parts of Neal past that no one not Peter or Mozzie knows about, and that is better for everyone in the long run. But that is no longer the case as an auction selling off what seems to be a Greek Music Box, Neal is one of three who knows what it really is, Neal can never let anyone know that he once did a job for Torchwood One and calls in Ianto Jones and Eliot Spencer to help him steal the music box back before anyone can be foolish enough to try and make it work. But things get complicated when Eliot's team and Torchwood Three arrive in New York after Peter investigates Ianto and Eliot, now the three must figure out away to keep their plans under wraps from the others.
5. Title: Cold Shoulder
Characters and Pairings: Canon relationships, more or less
Likely rating: PG-13
Summary: (Can be final or working) Soon after Peter is released from prison, at a time when trust is at its lowest ebb, Peter and Neal go out on a sting intending to bring down a smuggling ring. When things go south, they find themselves captured and locked up in the basement of an abandoned building. When their captors becomes incapacitated, they have to depend on each other to survive while they try to break free. Starvation and cold might kill them, but the biggest danger they face is turning a Cold Shoulder.
6. Title: Olympics Fic (working, obviously)
Characters and Pairings: Neal/Peter + Sara, Mozzie, Elizabeth, Diana, Jones
Likely rating: PG-13 to R

7. Title: (Can be final or working) The Shortcut Home
Characters and Pairings: Neal Caffrey, Rachel Turner, Peter Burke, Clinton Jones, OC; Neal/Rachel, background mentions of Peter/Elizabeth
Likely rating: Mature
Summary: As a child of a British mother and American father, Rachel Turner grew up with duel citizenship moving from military base to military base all over the world. It gave the girl a well rounded sense of adventure that she wanted to nourish no matter what. After turning eighteen she decided she wanted to do something important with her life. She enrolled at Quantico and became a FBI agent. All she wanted to do was make a difference. However, after an undercover operation went south Rachel was demoted from the Counterterrorism Division to White Collar. Working with Peter, Neal, and the gang is frustrating and she feels it is well below her skill set, but maybe this is exactly what she needs. Perhaps she needs to realize that while she tries desperately to get back in the Bureau's good graces to earn her place back in the Counterterrorism Unit. She doesn't want to spend the rest of her days pushing papers and dealing with that cocky yet charming conman who she can't get out from under her skin no matter how hard she tries. Excitement and adventure is in her blood. She wasn't made to stay in one place. When the chance finally arises for her to get back undercover will her time at White Collar had softened her skills or will she push things a little too far in the hopes of getting back to where she so desperately wants to be? Will anyone be there to pull her back? After a life of new places and new names, will she finally find where she belongs?
8. Title: What Is Left Is but Ashes and Dust (working)
Characters and Pairings: Neal Caffrey, Peter Burke, Vincent Adler, Elizabeth Burke, Mozzie, Sara Ellis, Diana Berrigan, Clinton Jones, Gen

9. Title (Working): Conspiracies II
Characters and Pairings: Mozzie, Peter Burke, Neal Caffrey; minor cast Sally, Elizabeth Burke, FBI Team, possibly June, some OCs; Mozzie/Sally (background), Peter/El (background)
Likely rating: PG-13
Summary: AU. When Mozzie, a brilliant scientist and law-abiding citizen, got caught in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy, he asked Neal for help. For a month, they successfully evaded their hunters… until it all goes south. Suddenly Neal’s life is in peril and Mozzie is desperately searching for allies. Naturally, Peter is also involved… Can they expose the nefarious plot, and what will happen to the three of them before this all is over?
This story is a sequel to my earlier work Conspiracies; while it’s not strictly necessary to know that story, it will help with deeper understanding of this one.
