Alright - there's a small change to this, mostly with the final draft due date for the authors. It is now September 7th, because my mind has gone muddy and I crossed the final draft due date with starting to post.

So - All Final Drafts are Due September 7th by Midnight CDT (7 am GMT). Thank you for everyone who has participated so far. Your final draft must be 10,000 words or I will not give you the green light for posting. What will happen is that you will get posting access for the big bang comm and I will give access in just one go. So, when sending in your rough draft, please have your username somewhere in the body of the email. If you have already sent in your final draft - even if you got a reply email saying you're good to go - please send back an email with your username. This just helps me when trying to get everything ready to go.

Now - Date Selection is below. It is First Come, First Served. If there is a date already taken and you need that date, PM me with the subject line of "Date Selection for WC BB" so I know what it is about. Or email us with the same subject in the subject line. We are starting posting September 8th and I won't be amazed on how this will go well with my White Collar crash of no new episodes until wintertime. :D

I know that we might not need all the dates there, but I'm putting them out. If there are dates where we have gaps, that's fine. Also - all authors and artists have until their posting dates to fiddle with their story or art. All I ask is all authors get me a final draft in just so I can check word count.

Oh - also, the date selection is just going to be for the authors. The artists, when they are done with their work, can just upload it and give the link to their author to put in their master post on their date of selection.

Hi Everyone!

I am sorry that I have been gone so long. It's a combination of depression and family stuff that I won't go into here. I know this says date selection and final drafts, but I also want to talk about another thing.

It came to my attention that an artist did not contact their author. Now, this is fine. Life happens, people drop off the face of the internet and everything. However, I would like to know if there are any authors or artists who have not been in contact with each other. I'm willing to put off the dates for posting for another few weeks if we need to get more artists in for art. I am also willing to do it if authors have not been in touch with artists. This is mostly to reselect authors with artists and everything.

Second thing - we already have two authors who have turned in their final drafts! Woohoo!!! For everyone who has not done so yet - as of right now, all final drafts are due on September 7th. This date is subject to change if we're having a problem of authors to artists or vice versa. But, for right now, the date is September 7th by Midnight CDT (7 am GMT).

Third thing - date selection. This will be up on Thursday around 7 pm CDT (2 am GMT) due to my schedule at the moment. This will be tentative, due to the first point I made. You might see three different lists of selection dates and this will be due to the comments about the first point.

Everyone - thank you for participating so far. I am sorry for being such a flake of a mod and I thank you for putting up with me. We're nearly done and I hope that everyone has had fun along the way.

Hi everyone!

All of the fics have been picked. I'm going to put an author to artist list below so everyone knows who they should contact. Either person can start the contact going.

If you do not hear from your author or artist by Friday at noon, please drop us an email at whitecollar.bb.mods@gmail.com and we'll see what's happening.

On Wednesday, at 2 am, I will be opening another fic selection post for anybody who did not get their first pick or anybody who wants to take on another fic. Do not feel that you have to, this is just to see if anybody wants to. As for opening it at 2 am, that is to give people overseas a chance to grab fics first. Also, 2 am Central time is 7 am GMT, just so everyone knows.

For artists, You have until September 1st to get some sort of art done. That can be a banner, icons, a fan video, icons, or whatever is striking your fancy.

For everyone - on August 16th at 2 pm CDT (7 pm GMT), there will be a date selection post for dates of posting the art. Since we have thirteen fics, that will run from September 7th to September 20th. I would like to keep it to one fic per day, but if none of the dates work out except for a date that someone else has picked, we'll do two fics. So, author and artist should figure out when the best time for posting will be for you. :)

Also - if you're wondering how you're going to post - on September 6th, we will be opening the community posting to the authors and artists who have gotten their works. It will then be up to the authors/artists to remember their posting date and post on that date. On September 21st, the community will go back to just the mods being able to post. A master post will be up on September 21st.

Hi all! Just some quick things.

We are now closed for authors to get their rough drafts in. We had thirteen people get their fics in and that is great! So we're going to have thirteen days of White Collar fic when September comes around.

Artists - there are still fics to be claimed in the Fic Selection Post. If you are an artist that wishes to claim another fic, we are now allowing that. Also, if anybody is an artist who signed up but you don't have time to be committed to a fic, please leave a comment if you're up to being a pinch hitter.

Everyone - thank you so very much for participating. For the authors who didn't get their drafts in, we hope to see you next round!

And now the post that everyone has been waiting for -- Fic Summaries for the Artist selection! It is first come, first serve. As soon as all fics have been selected, I will open up the fic summaries for another round of selection.

Hi everyone.

I know that you're probably wondering where the summaries post is. Considering the fact that we have eleven drafts in (Yay! Thank you authors!!), we are debating as mods if to hold open the rough draft summary due date until Monday morning at 10 am Central time. This means that the summary post would be up around noon Central time on Monday.

If we decide to hold open the rough draft deadline, the authors who have already turned in their rough drafts will be able to pick their posting dates first before anybody else. We do appreciate those who were able to get their drafts in and will honor that by giving them the early decision on posting dates.

If not, there will be a summary post up for artists to pick what they want to do art for at 4 pm Central time. We thank you very much for your patience and there will be a decision shortly.

ETA: Due to krazykipper's wonderful suggestion, there will be a summary post for artist selection up at 4 pm today. After that point, authors will have an extension until Monday morning but no guarantee of art. So, authors, if you really want art, you have until 3:30 pm Central today - a half hour before I make the artist selection post - to get in your rough drafts in order to have a guarantee or art.

Hi everyone!

Just so everyone knows, this is the second to last day to turn in rough drafts to us at whitecollar.bb.mods@gmail.com . Please get them in when you can - remember, you have until 10 am CDT on July 16th to get them in. At the moment, we have four drafts in and we cannot wait to get more.

Also, special note - if you have 7K to 8K done of your fic and you don't think you'll get the rest done, please drop us a line. If you feel you can get to 10K with the final draft deadline, we would like you to participate. If you have less than that but still feel you could be done by final draft deadline, please email us or leave a comment here.

Also, if you are using anything from last night's season 2 opener, you need to give a spoiler warning. This is just in case someone hasn't had the time to watch it so artists can pick within their comfort zone.

I hope everyone is having fun writing! If you have any questions, drop us a line. If any authors who have turned in their fic has not gotten a reply about your rough draft, please check your spam folders. We have been sending replies back to say that people are good to go.

This is mainly for the authors to tell them that there is one week to finish up the rough drafts. For a quick summary, we're just making sure you have a beginning, an end, and at least 10K words. All rough drafts must go to the email of whitecollar.bb.mods@gmail.com and yes, you can turn in your rough drafts early. We do ask that you attach the document to the email and that the document either be in Word 97-2003 or a format that is computable to that. Also, please include the following header:

We're asking for this to make up the artist post that will be going up on July 16th. So all drafts must be in no later than 9 am CDT on July 16th. I'm allowing a bit of leeway because I will not be up to making the artist post until then.

Also, if you know an artist, please point them towards the artist post. We only have seven sign ups at the moment. We might be having the artists double up, if they're up for it. We're also entertaining the thought of, if there aren't a lot of artists, asking if people want to make their own art/opt out of art. We really don't want to, but it might be the case if there are not enough artists to go around. The sign up posts for artists is here.

Also, we have a beta post up for anyone who wants to sign up for being a beta. That post is here.

So, in ten days (where did the time go?!), the authors will be turning in their rough drafts. They will then need to edit them and will need the help of betas. Peter is letting the betas go forth and, as such, please sign up in the comments to be a beta.

And now, writers - quickie review of the rules.

Rules for Writers
1. Fics must be at least 10,000 words or longer of gen, het, or slash fanfiction. At this time, we are not considering RPF or RPS. If you feel we should, please contact us at whitecollar.bb.mods@gmail.com
2. The story must be centered around White Collar characters but don't feel like you have to use all of them. So this means Peter, Neal, Elizabeth, Mozzie, Kate, June, Agent Jones, Agent Cruz, Special Agent in Charge Reese Hughes (Peter's boss), Fowler, and Alex. Have fun with these characters. Crossovers are allowed but please make sure it centers around White Collar. For example per the season finale, you could crossover White Collar and In Plain Sight (show about Witness Protection on USA), but the focus should be on Neal.
3. There will be check in posts. Please try to remember to post to them, but if you miss them, don't sweat it. We're just check in to see what everyone needs within reason. I am not getting everyone their own Neal. You're on your own for that.
4. Your Rough Draft is due on July 15th. This is when we are closing sign ups. There will be an official author drop out post on July 10th. If you need to drop out at any time, email us at whitecollar.bb.mods@gmail.com or leave a comment somewhere.
5. Fics as part of a series are allowed as long as they are stand alone fics. That means they can stand on their own merit and the reader doesn't have to read a previous fic in order to understand what you're writing.
6. You are not allowed to post your fic publicly either in whole or part before your posting date. Posting starts on the 4th of September - please wait until then.

Alright, I think that's everything. Artists, we will have a post for you to sign up in about a week or two. This is so nothing clumps together. And we'll probably ask you to pimp the comm to your artist friends. :D You can do that now if you want, artists and authors. Now, onto the form. Yes, there is a silly question down there, but it's a bit to break the ice as well.

We are starting sign ups soon - a week from yesterday! - and I thought it was high time I got some promo buttons/banners done. I do ask that you do not hotlink to them. Also, the poll is now closed. We will be staying on Livejournal for this challenge. In the future, we might move to an AO3, but for now, we are staying. There will be posting dates and the comm layout will not be changing. Save if someone makes an awesome White Collar themed layout. :)
